Browser UI Extensions: Establishing Best Practices for a Novel Framework

Just before OpenWorld 2015 kicked off last year Oracle announced the release of the much anticipated Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) 12c, something I’ve been eager to explore in more detail. Every major release of BI tends to bring with it many great new features, and this recent release does not disappoint either. Having recently done a 11g to 12c upgrade, it gives me an opportunity to share with you some valuable insights on the key features of this upgrade both from an administrator and an end user point of view.
Oracle’s big push towards BI in the cloud using BICS (which is essentially Oracle's Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition on Oracle’s cloud infrastructure) means that they have made some major changes to the back-end architecture of on-premise BI. Many OBIEE administrators will agree that the move from 10g to 11g was a major shock due to the introduction of WebLogic and the many extra folders you had to navigate through just to find the right log or configuration file. In our opinion, however, the changes introduced in 12c represent a significant improvement compared to 11g.
For the end user this means a new interface offering a better experience, the introduction of visual analyser allowing exploration and discovery of the data in a Tableau-like way, and access to advanced analytics capabilities. In addition, administrators can look forward to a drastically simplified and more coherent architecture.
The following presentation will give you a more detailed overview of the OBIEE 12c key new features as well as the upgrade process itself. If you would like our team of specialists to help you with this upgrade, call us on +44 203 283 4315 or contact us here.
